Senate Democrats Stand Up for Children and Vulnerable Populations

The Senate Appropriations Committee adjourned after 9 p.m. last night, but Senate Democrats fought back against the cuts made in the Senate Republican budget. Here is coverage by KPNX-TV 12 from Phoenix showing discussion of several Democratic amendments to restore cuts to food banks, domestic violence shelters and Child Protective Services.

Despite all of these cuts approved last night, Governor Jan Brewer and Republicans will call a special session at 1 p.m. to funnel more money into corporations. Sen. Garcia submitted a guest opinion to the Arizona Daily Star regarding this issue. It was published today and you can read it here.
